\u201cMartin explores four texts by Le Cl\u00e9zio in this book, three of which were published in the twenty-first century\u2014\u2018Nos vies d\u2019araign\u00e9es\u2019 (2011), Bitna, sous le ciel de S\u00e9oul (2018), and Alma (2017)\u2014along Le Cl\u00e9zio\u2019s 1971 essay \u2018Ha\u00ef\u2019. Martin focuses on the author\u2019s critiques of anthropocentrism through his exploration of the human\u2013animal relation in connection with Gilles Deleuze\u2019s concept of \u2018becoming-animal\u2019. She also examines Le Cl\u00e9zio\u2019s melding of the poetic and socio-political throughout his writing, touching on synergies with world philosophies including shamanism, Zen Buddhism, and cr\u00e9olit\u00e9 and highlighting its close links with the literature of Patrick Chamoiseau and \u00c9douard Glissant\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
